DCist said it best, Richard Branson puts on one hell of a festival. No ridiculous lines, plenty of good (relatively) cheap food, plenty of port-o-potties, and loads and loads of tents, events, and spectacles to keep everyone entertained. And that doesn't even touch upon the music. Which was great. Festivals are the perfect venue to do for check-off lists. Finally saw Bad Brains and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs - check! Day one review: Cheap Trick still puts on a great show. Rave tent is pretty fun, good palette cleaner between acts, Booka Shade fits the bill. Incubus is good, but never did it for me. Peter Bjorn and John dissapoint. Two of the summer's best tracks and as one fellow concert goer said "Booooooring." LCD Soundsystem stole the show. Totally worth Missing Beastie Boys. Beastie Boys are a blast, everyone else says the show was theirs, but they didn't see LCD Soundsystem. TV on the Radio - I can finally validate my hipster license. Energetic, but those guitars need another sound other than RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE. The Police end things, and they're great, but oh-my-god I can't stand on my two feet for another second, let's go home.
