Sorry for the cliche holding-camera-in-mirror shot. Now it's out of my system!

So I bit the bullet and purchased my first SLR. A Canon Digital Rebel XT, with 18-55mm lens, plus the 50mm 1.8F lens. I'm very happy. Shooting is a much more exciting experience. Many more factors to consider. Just the sound of that shutter opening and closing feels authentic.

I now have all the little things that I've been desiring: Bokeh, depth of field, low-lighting, low-noise, sharper detail. These shots are the typical round-the-house fodder plus some portraits taken at the party this weekend. Lots more to come, lots more money to spend on my new toy.
