St. Patrick's Day: Adams Morgan

20 March 07

I was planning a quiet weekend. With a wintry mix confirming my intentions, that Friday I got a couple beers, a new Nintendo game. A couple days of solitude would do me good. All the gang was in Boston right now, losing the ability to say their middle names. Come Friday night - Matt and Steph had their flights canceled. And Bryan was redirected from Boston, to Bangor Maine to Dulles of all places. A divine phone call. To Adams Morgan. I wore what what I thought was a green jacket. Turns out it was greenish-brown. The four of us start things at TS Muttley's, feast on appetizers at Madam Organ's then end things at Adams Mill. At least, that's what I think happened.

JMU Pretending

Weekend visit. The boys (plus Dana) re-convene at the alma matter. Friday night is black and white - Mike took most of those shots. Saturday is in color.

January Friends

31 January 07

I realize how frustrating it must be after you spend a weekend on the town with me. Dave's got his 12 pound camera, chances are you'll be in some shots the next day. As John, Doyle, Regan and others have pointed out, That Nemo Orange Site makes Sundays a little more pleasant.

But lately I've been really slacking. I realize this. I'll snap a bunch that night and post just one the best as the daily shot. So, to make up for it, here's the leftovers of the social gatherings I didn't bother posting. Night at O'Faolin's in Dulles, Meg and Teenie's in Ballston, and on the town in Adam's Morgan.

January Lights

31 January 07

January is literally the darkest month of the year. Instead of working against this condition, I'd have to work with it. Turn the shutter speed to 2 or 13 seconds and start waving my hand around. The latest design uses parts of some of the images taken like this. One night lightpainting around the house, one night at a bar in Baltimore, and one night on the road in Bethesda.

Leftovers for the month of January 2007. And this lovely panorama sunset in Rockingham County.

Raven's Tailgating

14 January 07

Doyle picks us up at 11:00. Squeeze in the car with Lindsay and her sister Michelle. Meet at Ben's. John has been up since 7:00 am and he's already got 2 Red Bulls and a Sparks coursing through his veins. Dangerous. Make it to the parking lot somewhere in Baltimore where Ben and his gang has already set up the tent and the hibachi is going. Eat a hot dog. Crack open a beer. More of Steve and Ben's friends from high school show up. Win in two straight games of washers with Mike. Eat another hot dog. Crack open another beer. Hang around the tent. Eat a sausage that no one else claims. Listen to Ben taunt every Colts fan that walks by. Eye up that black-as-charcoal bratwurst that's been on the grill for 30 minutes. Some dude from another tailgating party brings over peppers and onions and barbecue chicken. Add peppers and onions. Eat the cold chicken. More beer. Everyone cool either leaves for the game, or leaves to watch the game at a bar. We stick around and watch it on a 20" with someone holding the antenna the entire time. Finish the beers. Make it to the bar. No Way Jose's. We barely squeeze in. I'm the only guy in there not wearing a Raven's jersey. Beers. Shots. Suddenly its 2 minutes left to go and the score is only 12 to 6 - some game. Walk back to the cars. Drive to Double T Diner in Ben and Steve's home town. Tuna melt. Make it back to bens. Watch the last 8 minutes of the Eagles Saints game. Everyone loses. We win.

December Leftovers

Here are all the pics that didn't make the cut for the daily exposé for the month of December.

New Year's 2007

3 January 07

The day came at long last. All the months of Javid's incredible diligence pays off, and 350 people make their way to the Rhino Bar in Georgetown. And just like we all forecasted, things got real fun real quick. Biggest regret is having it all slip by me so fast. I'm ordering my second cocktail at one point, next thing I'm being ushered back into the bus. Too bad I left that jacket (with my keys - sorry Dad).

So not a lot of real memorable ones came out of this set, unfortunately. But take care to notice the following:
  1. Mike looks like a stone-cold alpha hunk in every one of these shots. Don't know how he pulled that off
  2. Unless you looked closely, you would have no idea that Ben is 70% injured from these pics
  3. I didn't get a shot of 10+ of the people I should have. I have no idea why Mike is in every shot

Here's to oh-seven.
