Nearby Gower Street

10 March 05

Before I head off to Barcelona, here are some shots from around town. 12 Bar Club, people working on the lettering at a Lombok, and a hotel I pass every night.

Camden Town, Hyde Park, Wolfmother

5 March 05

Busy, fun weekend. Friday, I wanted to buy some tickets for the Secret Machines/M83 show at the Electric Ballroom in Camden Town. While I was there, I browsed the hipster markets and window shopped all the leather clothing retailers. I didn't see much worth buying, save for a 2 pound meal at a noodle hut.

Then I went to Hyde Park this afternoon. I didn't realize how many swans are in the Round Pond there.

Finally finished off the day at the Notting Hill Arts Club. Wolfmother was playing, a free show at that. I was immediately impressed with the opening band, Viva Voce. They're an indie-rock duo from Oregon with some great songs. Wolfmother, of course, rocked. They rocked in the way that you wished for all those other boring bands rocked. Sort of a Sabbath/Zep feel. Talking with the bassist afterwards, I learned that they had just flown 20+ hours from Australia to London. He said that the show was a good way to release all the energy pent up from the epic flight. So with that experience in mind, I'll definately be spending a couple more Saturday afternoons over at the club.

Fleet Street

Tate Britain, Wagamama, Fleet Street.

East End

27 February 05

No trips to any exotic location this week, so I went over the East End of London. This section of town has historically been where all the immigrants first move into when they get to London. Sunday is the best time to go to the Spitalfield Market. Brick Lane is home to one of the world’s best bagel shops. 15 pence a bagel, can't beat that. I bought a half of dozen and a loaf of bread while I was there.

Edinburgh

21 February 05

Edinburgh, Scotland is the locale for this entry. The organizers of the trip said to pack for cold weather and they weren't kidding. Even with the bright sun shining, it felt like a bitterly cold day in the artic with those northern winds blowing. During the course of the weekend, I spent some time in the castle, the National Gallery, and the Royal Musuem they have in town. Great city, do visit if you get the chance.

Sunshine and Brighton

12 February 05

Would you believe it? The sun actually does come out. Two days in a row, at that, quite phenomenal. So for the past couple days I've been shooting all the big beautiful buildings around London. Big Ben, the Naturual History Museum, and some other shots around town.

Yesterday, the group went south to the coastal town, Brighton. The atmosphere wasn't too colorful, being a more typical British day (dreary and miserable). We saw the Royal Pavilion, which is easily the silliest building I've ever been in. A must see for all ages.

Greenwich

6 February 05

The UK is a funny place in that it is constantly overcast. Sunny moments are few and far inbetween. With this in mind, I found it much more satisfying taking black and white pictures. Most shots are from the little trip the class took to Greenwich for the day. Cute town.

Now in London

2 February 05

Can you believe it! Well, I suppose its not that fantastic for you, but for me, this is my first time over seas. London is an amazing city: old and quirky. Looks to be amazing. Hopefully, I can come up with some better images than these ones, but I felt like putting these four up just to get the ball rolling. Just your standard tourist-y shots: a city street, Picadilly Circus, the tube, and a pub. Cheers!

Weekend JMU Visit

24 January 05

After an extra long winter break, Erin and I went down to JMU for the weekend. I wasn't too happy about the snow forecast, but the weather turned out to affect the trip. It was great to see everyone again, back in party-mode.

So with that over, I'm all set to go to London. I'll be spending a semester abroad in the heart of the city. I'm not sure what to expect but it looks to be fun.

and I might as well mention the Eagles. It's quite ironic that they manage to go to the Superbowl the one time I'll be out of the country. Maybe that'll change all the Philly luck surrounding this title. Ever since I was born, no Philadelphia team has ever won it all. Here's hoping.

New Year's in West Chester

2 January 05

I spent the final minutes of 2004 at a friend's place in West Chester, PA. I suppose you could say it was your typical New Year's party. Alcohol, kisses, and then the thirty minutes after midnight when everyone starts calling all their closest friends on their cell phones to wish 'em a happy new year. 2005 looks to be a good one. Make the most of it.
